Subject: 2m/70cm stub duck wanted

I use the Miracle Baby on my W2A ... but definitely not all the time.

My main 440 repeater is near my home and where I work so the Miracle
Baby is ok in that vicinity.  I carry my W2A with me to work in my
bag/briefcase and with the MB, I don't have to remove tha antenna from
the HT.  That saves a bit of a wear and tear on the antenna connection.

At work, I can't monitor much of anything because of all the computers
generating interferance (no matter what antenna I use).  I can monitor
the State Police on 800Mhz and the towns FD on 8000Mhz using the MB.

It is a tradeoff between size and performance.  I wasn't so
dissapointed that I returned it.  On the other hand, I am not sure I
would buy one again knowing what I know now.  I do put mine to use so ...
find a place that has a return policy and check it out.  It's the only
way you'll know if it will meet your needs.

Subject: Alliance 5-wire Rotor Motor Questions

I've accquired an Alliance rotor motor with no control box.  The rotor
takes 5 wires, has the rotating mast thru the body and the mast top clamp
on the side of the case.  I've been told this style is often used as an
altitude rotor on Satellite setups.
Questions:
1.  What voltage does it take to turn the motor?  AC or DC?
2.  WHat are the pinouts for the five wires?
3.  What is the model number or other ID's? (nothing on the case but Alliance).

I can open it up to get the pinouts, but I don't want to burn it out with
the wrong voltage etc.
I'm planning to use it to turn small VHF/UHF antennas.
Any positive responses are greatly appreciated!!!!!

Subject: Best cars for mobile HF/VHF??

I need to replace a car and want one which 100 watts or so of HF and 50 watts
or so of 2 meters or 440 will not interfere with the electronics af the
vehicle. Nor do I want ignition or other noise beyond the bare minimum.

In consideration are four door sedans from the size of a Corolla up to that
of a Taurus. or perhaps a minivan or small pickup. Replacing a Ford
Aerostar.

Will listen to all viewpoints. Tnx a million.  Bob

I had the 757GX (not II).. used it SSB, AMTOR, RTTY, CW.. worked
GREAT on all modes. liked the keyer and built in filters.. never had a
problem with it.. and sorry I ever sold it.

I thought that the AM filtering was in the first IF, and that the SSB
filter was in the second IF and they were both in line for SSB.  Maybe that
is not the case?  I would be interested in a wider AM filter as well, if
was not too expensive (shouldn't be for a 2 pole xtal filter).

I am looking for a good technical person that can help me with my radio.
THE SQL WILL NOT WORK! AND IT IS DRIVING MY CRAZY. All I can hear is a
hummmming and hissssssing noise. However, the radio performs fine with
this problem. Has anyone ever had this problem or even better know what
I can do to correct it? I would prefer fixing it myself if possible.

Subject: Kenwood 732-A remote-face question

One question I have about the 732-A:

I would like to run the remote face of the radio a total length
of 5 stories up a building.

Will there be a noticable signal loss?  And will there be a need to
worry about possible RFI to the line? What kind of line should we use?

This is being done to avoid the RF signal loss that would appear if
we transmitted from the radio on the second floor of our building.
The radio will actually be on the roof in the control room.

I don't want to get into a debate about whether such testing is
worthwhile (at least not now).
